Community Leadership Profile

Burma to the United States || Empowering Communities

Mr. Kham arrived in the United States as a teenage refugee with his family in 2014, with very little and limited knowledge about the culture and the language. His journey from Burma to the United States has fueled his passion for helping others, especially non-English-speaking refugees and immigrants navigating life in a new country. Having faced similar struggles and challenges, Mr. Kham's unique experiences have deepened his understanding of the human experience, the challenges they encounter, and what it feels like to have no one to turn to for support.

Driven by his experiences, Mr. Kham actively participates in Tulsa's Zomi/Burmese community events and initiatives, observing issues within the community on a broader scale. Mr. Kham's commitment to serving and guiding the Burmese and Zomi people has led him to take on leadership roles, including his current position as the Media Director for the Zomi Baptist Churches of America (ZBCA). As the largest Burmese/Zomi religious organization in America, Mr. Kham collaborates with 45 partner Burmese/Zomi churches across 42 states, recruiting volunteers, leading young people, and empowering communities across America.

Through his unwavering dedication and substantial contributions to the collaborative efforts of the ZBCA mission and the Tulsa Zomi and Burmese communities, Mr. Kham is instrumental in addressing challenges, fostering resilience, and strengthening connections, ultimately bolstering unity and support within the community.

ZBCA has recently established partnerships with NABF and BWA.
